Pattaconck

Pattaconck is a section the Cockaponsett State Forest that runs throughout CT.  BSA Troop 494 ventured out to a camp ground on a beautiful man-made lake.  At the campsite, there was a large leantoo, where most scouts slept, except for some that fared the high winds and cold nights in tents.  In years past, it rained like a torrential downfall all weekend, but not this one.  We were blessed with perfect weather, except for the cool temperatures.  Anyway, we went on a pretty big hike, and made some great food and had a chili cook off that night

NAVIANCE

NAVIANCE: That's an acronym for something, but I wouldn't know off the top of my head......
All I know, is that it's a test.  It's a test that, well, pretty much decides your future.  Boy was I thrilled with my result...

So my Lit class into a computer lab to take the test online.  We all log on, and begin the test.  The questions are about what you like to do, and what you'd like to do with your future.  Just for the record, this was a test to decide your CAREER.  Me, I would like to be an architect, pilot, or even a businessman, but according to the test....I won't be.  The test is about 100 questions long, and people sitting next to me are starting to finish.  My friend got "pilot."  Another friend got some very respectable jobs, and well paying, not to mention.

In hopes of getting a legit career, I sure was surprised when I finished my test, and my #1 result: "Window washer."

This was absolutely hysterical.  I showed my friends next to me, and they found it hilarious too.

Going on to career choice #2, I hoped I'd get something I'd rather do that wash windows.

Again, nope. I got "Truck driver"

But that's not all.  Career choice #3 was: "Tow truck driver"

So right about now, me and my friends are on the floor in pain from laughing too hard.  The guidance councilor running this whole "life chooser" suggested I take another test, 170 more questions, if the first 100 wasn't enough fun.  Opting out, I continued to look some of the job requirements for window washing on this wonderful thing called NAVIANCE.

Since when was that even a career?  I understand it's a job....but alright.  So, as for requirements, I don't need to go to college.  In fact, I probably don't even need to complete high school to know how to operate a squeegee.

I like being out doors, so when the question, "Do you like working out doors in any type of weather?" came around, I answered yes.   Big mistake, because looking at the questions, (You can do that, and see what you answered) answering that question was what gave me "Window washer."  Ya, right, like I'll be up 40 floors on a metal scaffolding washing windows in the middle of a thunderstorm....

Just for kicks, I decided to go home that night, and prove to my parents that "window washer" is a legit career.  (By the way, they think this is a total joke too)  Results, similar.  Not exactly the same, but hey, window washer was still #1, and truck driver and tow truck driver were in the top five.  This time, I got demolition expert....o.O

So maybe about a week later, I'm not sure, I saw an episode of Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe.  He was doing just that, washing windows in Hawaii.  A nice place, yes, but he hated the job, and if HE hates the job, well, that's saying an awful lot.  Here he was, sitting on nothing more than a platform the size of a chair washing windows 36 floors up on a sky scraper.  He was horrified up there, blowing around in the wind.  I think he, HE, repeatedly had to change his pants.

And toward the end of the episode, when he and the window washers were coming down, one of his cameramen was stranded and needed help.  As it turns out, his hair  scalp got caught in a control on the wire right by his head.  The window washers had to free him at about 20 floors up, and when he got down, he had a great big gash on his head.

SO..my future looks good and successful.  I can't wait to drop out of high school and become a successful window washer!

Greetings and salutations!

Well, I pretty much have no idea how to use Blogger, but that's alright, I'll figure it out along the way.  Anywho, what this blog will mostly be about is a high schooler's journey through life.  (That would be me)  A large part of this will be about my photography, a hobby I've been into for about a year or so now. I'll put up some photos as I go along. (And what' I've already got)  Also, I'm active in Boy Scouts, so there will be some great tales relating to that.  If you're reading, thanks, because I can't imagine too many will.  These are just some teasers of what pictures I've got.
